29 Individuals and 17 Companies Hit by New Ukrainian Sanctions, Including Judges and Propagandists.
Ukraine Imposes Fresh Sanctions
According to Espreso.tv: The Ukrainian President's Office has announced new sanctions targeting 29 individuals and 17 legal entities. These measures are aimed at those involved in the persecution of Ukrainians in Russia and Crimea. Among those sanctioned is Moscow judge Timur Vakhrameyev, whose rulings against Ukrainian citizens have sparked widespread outrage.
The sanctions also extend to propaganda media outlets, including 'Gazeta.Ru', 'Lenta.Ru', and the Union of Journalists of Russia. Ukrainian authorities assert that all individuals and organizations complicit in the persecution of Ukrainians and the dissemination of Russian propaganda must be held accountable. This was stated by Vladyslav Vlasiuk.
Human Rights Context
It is worth noting that in 2024, Victoria Roshchyna was tortured while in Russian captivity, underscoring the severity of the human rights situation for Ukrainians detained in Russia. Additionally, on June 9, the European Commission introduced its 21st sanctions package against Russia, continuing international efforts to pressure the aggressor nation.
These new sanctions are part of Ukraine's and the international community's broader efforts to protect human rights and counter Russian aggression. The restrictions target not only specific individuals but also media outlets that facilitate disinformation and propaganda, potentially having long-term effects on the region's information landscape. Such actions highlight Ukraine's pursuit of international support in its fight for justice and the restoration of rights for Ukrainians suffering from repression and Russian aggression.
