Ukraine Gets Green Light from Washington for Patriot Missile Production, Zelenskyy Says.
Statement from Ukraine's President
According to UATV: President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced that the United States is prepared to grant a license for the domestic production of Patriot missile systems. In an interview broadcast as part of the 'United News' telethon, he emphasized that the administration of Donald Trump is open to discussing the matter.
“We have reached the point where only a personal 'OK' from Trump is needed. Everyone else has already agreed,” Zelenskyy stated.
Ukraine indeed requires a license from the United States to manufacture Patriot missiles. Currently, the U.S. produces approximately 700 Patriot missiles annually and has previously issued a license to Germany, which has already begun manufacturing. In light of these developments, Ukraine has also signed a contract with Germany for 600 missiles for its Patriot systems.
Advancements in Defense Technology
At the Eurosatory-2026 international defense exhibition in Paris, Ukrainian manufacturers showcased their drones and cruise missiles. Among the highlights was a cruise missile capable of striking targets up to 150 kilometers away. These events underscore Ukraine's intensified efforts to develop its defense technologies and strengthen its military capabilities.
Securing a license to produce Patriot missiles represents a critical step for Ukraine in bolstering its national defense. This would significantly enhance the country's military readiness, especially given the current security situation in the region. Furthermore, Ukraine's active participation in international exhibitions highlights its commitment to advancing indigenous defense technologies and attracting foreign partners in this field.
