Zelenskyy Asks Brazil's Lula to Bring Putin and Xi Into Peace Talks.
Ukraine's President Reaches Out to Brazil
According to Espreso.tv: Volodymyr Zelenskyy has formally asked Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to help bring Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping to the negotiating table. The Ukrainian leader requested that Brazil use its diplomatic channels to facilitate direct dialogue aimed at ending the war.
Brazilian officials believe Kyiv's request stems from the difficulty of establishing direct communication with Moscow. This is not the first such appeal from Ukraine—a similar request was made in 2025.
Brazil Steps Up Peace Efforts
In January 2025, President Lula da Silva discussed the war in Ukraine with Putin, signaling Brazil's active role in seeking a resolution. Brazil maintains diplomatic ties with both Russia and China, positioning it as a potential intermediary.
By April 2026, Lula da Silva had publicly stated that both the United States and Russia misjudged the war's trajectory, highlighting the complexity of the conflict and the urgent need for international dialogue. These developments underscore Brazil's potential to play a pivotal role in efforts to resolve the crisis in Ukraine.

Brazil's unique diplomatic relationships with Moscow and Beijing could prove crucial in Ukraine's broader strategy to restart high-level international negotiations.
