After the arrest of Pavel Durov in France, Russian law enforcement officers and government officials received unspoken instructions to delete their accounts in Telegram. The media reports about panic among officials who are hastily deleting official correspondence and any traces of their activity on Telegram.
This is due to the fact that French special services can gain access to encrypted messages on Telegram, which may lead to the leakage of confidential information and the compromising of Russian officials.
Some Russian officials stated that they have not yet received such instructions, but are expecting them next week.
Recall that French special services detained Pavel Durov, the founder and CEO of the Telegram messenger, on Saturday evening at Le Bourget airport. Durov arrived from Azerbaijan and was arrested immediately after leaving the private plane.
