Will Replacing Your Passbook with an ID Card Affect Your Mobilization Deferral?.
How Changing Your Passport Affects Mobilization Deferrals
According to Novyny.live: A citizen who replaced their passport booklet with an ID card sought clarification on whether this change would impact their deferral from mobilization. Lawyer Yuriy Aivazian confirmed that updating passport data does not affect the deferral process. According to him, information about the passport change is automatically sent to the Register by the State Migration Service of Ukraine (SMSU), and this circumstance is not grounds for a deferral refusal.
Key Aspects of the Deferral Process
A citizen's deferral from mobilization is processed based on data from the tax register. The primary document for arranging a deferral is the individual tax number (identification code), not the internal Ukrainian passport.
'This is irrelevant for the deferral, as everything is linked to your individual tax number, not your passport.' Yuriy Aivazian
Therefore, updating passport information will not affect the ability to obtain a deferral from mobilization, which is crucial information for those liable for military service. It is important to note that the accuracy of the identification code information remains paramount, as this data is central to the deferral process. This clarification can help many citizens planning to update their passport documents avoid unnecessary anxiety about their status in the deferral system.
The system ensures the automatic transfer of data, which reduces the risk of errors or delays in the deferral process. This procedure is part of broader administrative reforms in Ukraine, where digital ID cards are gradually replacing older paper documents.
