Ukraine's Defense Forces Destroy Military Airfield in Crimea and Bridges in Donetsk Region.
Ukrainian Forces Strike Key Military Targets in Occupied Territories
According to UATV: On July 5, 2023, the General Staff of Ukraine's Armed Forces announced the destruction of a military airfield at the 'Gvardeyskoye' airbase in Crimea, a critical hub for Russian aviation operations. This strike is part of a broader campaign to degrade Russian military capabilities in the region.
In the temporarily occupied Donetsk region, the following infrastructure was destroyed:
- A bridge over the Hruzskyi Elanchyk River
- A road bridge across the Kalmius River
Additionally, three enemy depots were taken out of operation across Donetsk and Luhansk regions, a move aimed at depleting the resources available to occupation forces.
In Crimea, preliminary reports indicate that the 'Bakhchysarai' substation, with a capacity of 220 kV, was also damaged. Another substation, 'Zymino,' was struck, disabling two transformers with a combined capacity of 50 MVA. Earlier, a Russian MiG-29 fighter jet and an airfield launch system were destroyed at the 'Belbek' airbase.
These actions by Ukraine's Defense Forces underscore the ongoing, active struggle to restore the country's territorial integrity and dismantle the enemy's military assets.
The elimination of key military facilities and infrastructure in temporarily occupied territories highlights Ukraine's strategic approach to defensive operations. Such measures are likely to significantly impact the logistics and operational capabilities of Russian forces in the area, while demonstrating the readiness of Ukrainian troops for active resistance. These developments unfold against the backdrop of a protracted conflict, requiring both sides to adapt to evolving battlefield conditions.
