Zelensky's visit to the US is at risk: Washington is reviewing the dates due to a leak of the plan.
According to ТСН: President Volodymyr Zelensky's trip to the US has not yet received final approval from Washington. Following the leak of an unapproved version of the peace plan and changes to the consultation schedule, all possible dates are being reviewed.
Political scientist Volodymyr Fesenko emphasized that the issue of the visit is still being discussed. At the same time, consultations between Zelensky and European leaders are ongoing, and potential meetings with Donald Trump are being considered in the context of working on an updated settlement plan.
The leak of the unapproved document in the media effectively canceled the previous consultation schedule. Washington is no longer insisting on a quick adoption of the plan, and the coordination process has started anew. In Geneva, participants analyzed the circumstances of the leak and concluded that the text needs significant corrections.
Fesenko notes that the schedule has changed significantly as negotiations for the updated version of the document are currently ongoing.
Europe's Position in the Negotiations
European countries remain participants in the peace consultations, although not all stages take place in their presence. Some meetings between the US and Ukrainian delegations occurred without EU representatives, but at certain stages they influenced the content of the document.
In Brussels, analysis of the possibility of forming a unified position before the next round of negotiations is ongoing, and a collective visit to Washington is not ruled out.
After the return of delegations from Geneva, the US and Ukraine are preparing a joint assessment of the consultations. In Washington, a new round of negotiations in early December is being considered with the participation of Driscoll, Stephen Witkoff, and Jared Kushner. These meetings may determine whether the parties will move closer to agreeing on a framework document.
Fesenko emphasizes that the topic of negotiations remains everything—from the date of Zelensky's trip to specific points of the peace plan. At the same time, Ukraine is coordinating its positions with European partners.
It should be noted that US President Donald Trump is willing to meet with Volodymyr Zelensky and Vladimir Putin only after the peace plan regarding the cessation of war is finalized. For this, his team is holding consultations with both sides and adjusting proposals in the US, Russia, and Ukraine.
This situation highlights the complexity of international negotiations, where it is essential to coordinate the positions of all participants. Resolving issues related to peace in Ukraine requires time and effort to reach a compromise, which remains the focus of the international community.
