Today, September 13, is celebrated as International Chocolate Day, Hairdresser's Day, and Awareness Day about Congenital Anomalies in Pets. It is also the church holiday of St. Cornelius, the Holy Martyr.

International Chocolate Day

The idea of celebrating the trial of chocolate originated in France in 1995, and since 1996 the holiday has been celebrated in many countries around the world. September 13 was chosen as the birthday of the founder of the American chocolate company Hershey’s, Milton Hershey.

During the holiday, various events such as festivals, fairs, and speed chocolate-eating contests are held. In Ukraine, Lviv is considered the chocolate capital, where thematic events and master classes are often held.

Hairdresser's Day

This holiday is dedicated to all hairdressers who create hairstyles and help people look better. The profession of a hairdresser has an ancient history. In Ancient Egypt, hairdressers made wigs and dyed hair with henna and basma. In the Middle Ages, hairdressers not only cut hair but also performed medical procedures.

Modern hairdressers play an important role in society; they help people look better and feel more confident. On Hairdresser's Day, they often organize corporate parties and receive congratulations from clients and loved ones.

Awareness Day about Congenital Anomalies in Pets

This holiday is intended to spread awareness about congenital anomalies that can affect pets. The initiator of this day was Davis Rogers, the founder of the MBJungle Foundation.

The goal of the holiday is to inform pet owners about the importance of prevention, treatment, and care for animals with congenital defects. Congenital defects can vary in severity, from minor to life-threatening.

Church Holiday

In the church calendar, this is the day of remembrance of St. Cornelius, the Holy Martyr. He was a Roman centurion who lived in the 1st century in Caesarea of Palestine. He was a pagan but was noted for his piety and good deeds. One day, while Cornelius was praying, an angel of God appeared to him and ordered him to invite the apostle Peter to his home. The apostle Peter came and preached the Crucified Christ.

After this, Cornelius believed in Christ and was baptized along with his family. He became the first pagan converted to Christianity by the apostle Peter and was appointed bishop of Caesarea of Palestine. He performed many miracles and suffered from pagans but died peacefully in old age.
