20 years of the legendary 'assassination attempt': where is the activist who threw an egg at Yanukovych now.
20 years ago in Ivano-Frankivsk, a historical event occurred that became legendary - Viktor Yanukovych was hit with an egg. The presidential candidate visited the city, where he had low ratings and trust. He had just stepped off the bus when he was struck by an egg. He fell to the ground, staging a scene as if he had been shot by a sniper rifle.
The 'hero' of the episode was Dmytro Romanyuk, a 17-year-old student. The video, which became legendary, can now only be seen in the archive of Channel 5, as it was removed from other resources due to government threats.
11 years later, Romanyuk became a candidate of economic sciences, and his life was connected with state institutions. He chaired the supervisory board of an asset management company and worked on investment issues. In 2019, he became the Deputy Head of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration. Over his life, Romanyuk changed 11 jobs. Now he heads the Ivano-Frankivsk Business Association - an association of the city's business owners and top managers interested in entrepreneurship development.
