340 hryvnias for summer tires: new fines prepared for drivers in winter.
Ukrainian drivers may face fines for using summer tires in winter. The patrol police propose to impose fines of 340 hryvnias for passenger cars and 8500 hryvnias for trucks and buses.
This was stated by the first deputy chief of the patrol police department Oleksiy Biloshytskyi in his interview with 'Ukrainian News'.
According to him, the use of winter tires is crucial for safety on the roads. 'Summer tires lose their properties at +4+7 degrees and become ineffective,' Biloshytskyi explained.
Currently, Ukrainian law does not stipulate liability for using summer tires in winter, the official reported.
Oleksiy Biloshytskyi also considers the current fines for speeding to be insufficient and calls for a significant increase. According to police data, the number of traffic violations recorded by surveillance cameras continues to rise.
