Chisinau Airport Deploys Electronic Gates to Cut Passenger Wait Times.
Modernization at Chisinau Airport
According to Novyny.live: Chisinau International Airport has launched a new automated control system designed to reduce queues for passengers traveling without checked luggage. The system utilizes electronic gates to provide a faster and more convenient security screening process.
The airport has activated new gates featuring electronic identification. To ensure the system's efficiency, a total of nine electronic gates have been installed:
- Five in the departure area,
- Two in the arrival area,
- One in the hall reserved for official delegations.
These innovations allow passengers without luggage to clear control points more swiftly, which is expected to significantly decrease congestion throughout the airport.
“After check-in, you proceed to customs control—a gate awaits. No need to look for staff or wait in a line. Simply scan your boarding pass, the doors open automatically, and you move on. It's straightforward and hassle-free,”

Enhancing the Passenger Experience
Chisinau Airport serves as a hub for Air Moldova and Wizz Air, while also facilitating flights for carriers like Fly One, Turkish Airlines, and Pegasus. Popular destinations from Moldova for Ukrainian travelers include:
- Italy,
- Portugal,
- France,
- Israel,
- Turkey,
- Spain.
The introduction of electronic gates is poised to improve the overall passenger experience by streamlining the journey and cutting down wait times. This upgrade is part of a broader trend of airports in the region investing in digital solutions to handle growing passenger numbers.
The implementation of this new control system underscores the airport's commitment to improving customer service and managing queues, a critical need during peak travel periods. Given the increasing volume of flights and passenger traffic, the efficiency gains from this new technology could substantially raise comfort levels for travelers, thereby positively impacting the airport's reputation. This initiative forms part of wider efforts to modernize the airport's infrastructure, which may help attract more tourists and business travelers to Moldova.
