Vilnius Airport Halts Operations After Unidentified Object Arrives from Belarus.
Disruption at Vilnius Airport
According to UATV: Operations at Lithuania’s Vilnius Airport were temporarily suspended due to an unidentified airborne object, believed to be a weather balloon, which posed a potential risk to aircraft. The object entered from the direction of Belarus, prompting immediate restrictions on air navigation. As a result, five flight routes were affected, impacting a total of 453 passengers.
Four planes were diverted to other airports, including two that were rerouted to Kaunas, while one flight was canceled altogether. Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda stated that the country would shoot down any drones that violate its airspace.
