How did the labor market end in 2024? A study.
According to a study by Work.ua, in December 2024, the number of vacancies on this site decreased by 19%, while the number of candidates actively looking for a job decreased by 6%. Analysts explain this by the New Year holidays.
The study indicates that the Christmas and New Year holidays had a significant impact on the labor market in the last month of 2024, resulting in a 19% decrease in the number of vacancies and a 6% decrease in job seekers.
The number of job positions in December decreased across all categories of vacancies and regions, except for the 'Security' sector (6,760 job positions, an increase of 1% compared to November).
A decrease in the number of job seekers was recorded in all categories and regions, except for 'Agriculture, agribusiness', where the number of candidates remained unchanged.
Despite the decrease in vacancies, the level of competition in December remained at the level of the last four months. Therefore, employers who continued hiring in December did not feel significant seasonal effects.
The only exception was the 'Security' sector, where no decrease was observed. Vacancies in this sector were posted by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
It is noted that one of the few indicators that increased in December 2024 was salaries. The average salary offered by employers was 24,000 UAH (+5% compared to November). This increase is largely related to vacancies in the Armed Forces.
The trend manifested itself in all leading regions, except for Kharkiv, where the salary remained at the level of 20,000 UAH.
