Kyiv Clash with Military Recruitment Officials Lasted Until 3 AM: Five Detained, Including Former Paratroopers.
Conflict Between Military Personnel and Local Residents
According to Espreso.tv: A confrontation involving staff from a territorial recruitment center and local residents went on until 3:00 AM on July 9. The events began around 9:30 PM on July 8 on Chervona Kalyna Avenue, resulting in at least five arrests and injuries to police officers.
Detained Individuals
Those taken into custody have been identified as:
- Roman Stehnii (28 years old)
- Oleh Havrylov (23 years old)
- Roman Prykhodko (28 years old)
- Oleh Kuzyk (21 years old)
- Volodymyr Kunynets (45 years old)
Roman Stehnii served in the 80th Air Assault Brigade until June 2023, while Oleh Havrylov was stationed near Kramatorsk until March 2026. Havrylov is reported to have assaulted police officers around 2:30 AM on July 9.
Criminal proceedings have been launched for violence against law enforcement, obstruction of military duties, property damage, and hooliganism. One of the detainees, Roman Stehnii, stated:
“I, Stehnii Roman Vitaliyovych, committed wrongful acts yesterday… I touched the recruitment center’s vehicle because I was under the influence of alcohol.”It was also noted that one of the arrested men had been on the wanted list since June 12, 2026.
The nearly six-hour-long clash has sparked significant public outcry, highlighting the growing tensions between military personnel and civilians. This incident underscores ongoing issues in Ukraine regarding civil-military relations, especially amid the prolonged war and social strain. Authorities continue to investigate all circumstances surrounding the conflict.
