Amazon to Lay Off 600,000 Workers: Robotics to Replace People by 2033.
According to inkorr.com: Amazon plans to replace more than half a million of its workers with robotics. According to forecasts, by 2033, over 600,000 employees could be automated thanks to the automation of 75% of all operations in warehouses.
Amazon plans to eliminate 160,000 jobs in the U.S. by 2027. This will allow the company to save about 30 cents on each product, and significant economic benefits are expected due to automation.
Moreover, Amazon is actively working to improve its image amid these changes. The company participates in community projects and uses terms such as 'advanced technology' and 'cobots' to explain the work of its robots that interact with humans.
Technology Companies Push Automation
In the past five years, about 94,000 workers from the largest technology companies in the U.S. have lost their jobs due to the implementation of automation and artificial intelligence to optimize processes and improve productivity.
Amazon plans to significantly increase the automation of its warehouses by replacing humans with robotic systems. This will not only save costs but also bring expected economic benefits. Overall, technology companies are also trying to automate their production processes to increase efficiency.
Thus, Amazon's plans indicate a significant transformation of the labor market in the U.S. On the one hand, automation can reduce costs, but on the other hand, it raises concerns about potential job losses. The further development of events in this area will be interesting to observe, as it will affect millions of workers and the economy of the country as a whole.
