Ukraine’s Top Diplomat Demands Tougher Sanctions and €90 Billion Loan Package.
Call for Increased Pressure on Russia
According to Novyny.live: Andriy Sybiha, Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, has urged the international community to intensify pressure on Moscow by adopting new sanctions and seizing tankers from Russia’s shadow fleet. In a statement posted on social media platform X on March 19, he also highlighted the need for a €90 billion loan to support Ukraine.
Sybiha stressed that efforts to pressure Russia must not be eased but rather sharply escalated. He argued that sanctions against Russia are crucial not only for supporting Ukraine but also as a demonstration of solidarity with the Ukrainian people. Additionally, he called for a ban on entry into the European Union for Russian combatants, stating that the time for such measures has come.
The Urgent Need for New Sanctions
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also weighed in on the situation, noting that Russia remains uninterested in a genuine end to the war. In this context, Sybiha emphasized the necessity of adopting a 20th sanctions package, describing it as a vital step in the fight for peace and regional stability.
“Calls to strengthen sanctions and pressure on Russia underscore the urgency of the situation and the importance of international support amid ongoing aggression.” - Andriy Sybiha
The implementation of new sanctions and continued backing from Western partners could prove decisive in ensuring stability in the region and sustaining Ukraine’s fight for independence.
