According to ТСН: The Russian opposition has once again shown its attitude towards Ukraine, leading to a diplomatic scandal in Lithuania. Leonid Volkov, former head of Alexei Navalny's headquarters, is at risk of deportation following the publication of his personal correspondence.

Rejoiced at the 'death' of a fighter for Ukraine

The scandal arose after the publication of Volkov's correspondence with a representative of the RDK. In December, when the GUR carried out a special operation, staging the death of RDK commander Denis Kapustin, Volkov expressed joy:

‘In a certain sense, denazification really took place. A Nazi has died, who by his very existence was a gift to Kremlin propaganda.’

Insults towards Budanov and Yermak

In that same conversation, Volkov did not hold back on offensive remarks about the top military and political leadership of Ukraine, calling then-head of the GUR Kirill Budanov a 'repulsive provincial political technologist.'

He also expressed hope for the imprisonment of Ukrainian officials:

‘I hope that following Kapustin, his buddies will also be arrested. Yermak will be imprisoned, Podolyak will be imprisoned, Budanov will be imprisoned, and all the other propagandistic hypocrites. Only then Ukraine will have a chance to win.'

Lithuania's reaction: 'Can he live here?'

The Lithuanian authorities reacted quickly. The head of the Seimas Committee on Foreign Affairs, Remigijus Motuzas, stated that these statements need to be verified.

‘I think this really needs to be done... and only after that make final conclusions whether the esteemed Volkov can live in the territory of Lithuania, in the territory of the European Union, or not.’

Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys added that foreigners who oppose the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine may lose their right to reside. The Migration Department has already appealed to the State Security Department to assess potential threats.

Volkov's justification

In a comment to journalists, Volkov admitted that his messages were ‘stupid, wrong, and harsh,’ but he still insists on his position regarding Kapustin, calling him a ‘neo-Nazi.’ He also criticized the Ukrainian authorities' stance on collective responsibility of Russians, describing it as ‘propaganda rhetoric.’

Let us remind you that the Ukrainian intelligence conducted a unique operation, staging the death of RDK commander Denis Kapustin. While Russia believed in its success, the GUR uncovered the organizers and seized half a million dollars allocated for the assassination.

This situation highlights the internal contradictions within the Russian opposition, which remains active in its struggle against the regime while also revealing a vivid attitude towards the conflict in Ukraine. The Lithuanian authorities' reaction to Volkov's statements demonstrates how important it is for European countries to support the territorial integrity of Ukraine in the context of international politics.
