Arrestovich on possible compromises with Russia.
Oleksii Arrestovich, former advisor to the Office of the President of Ukraine, reported that conditions for compromise agreements between Ukraine and Russia are being discussed in the United States. Specifically, these agreements may include the return of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions in exchange for a transport corridor for civilians to Crimea and the restoration of water supply to the peninsula. He talked about this on YouTube.
In one of the truce options with Russia, it is mentioned that "they will open some kind of land corridor, which is not intended for military cargo but for civilian vehicles. One of the discussed issues is civilian and passenger traffic and water (to Crimea)," Arrestovich said.
He also noted that it is important for Ukraine to negotiate as much as possible, to get guarantees and resources for the next modernization leap. Arrestovich believes that it is quite possible to attract China and India as partners and to find the best conditions for Ukraine's development within the framework of the agreement.
The former advisor to the President's Office warns that the policy currently being pursued by Ukraine could lead to the country's demise. He urges to take an adult position, change the goals of the war, and create strong states.
In turn, the Financial Times reports changes in the tone and content of discussions regarding the possible settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. According to diplomats, Ukrainian officials have become more open to the idea of a ceasefire agreement and more pragmatic in their positions.
