Russians attacked Ukraine with 46 drones and a missile: how many were destroyed by air defense.
On the night of August 5, Russian troops once again attacked Ukraine with drones and missiles. However, Ukrainian defenders managed to destroy a significant part of the enemy targets.
This was reported by the press service of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Tuesday, August 5.
Russia's attack on Ukraine - air defense results
On the night of August 5 (from 19:00 on August 4), Russian occupiers attacked Ukraine with 46 strike UAVs of the Shahed type and imitator drones of various types from different directions. Also, a ballistic missile Iskander-M was used.
To repel this attack, aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and drone systems, as well as mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine were involved.
According to preliminary data, as of 8:00, air defense shot down/suppressed 29 enemy UAVs of the Shahed type and imitator drones of various types in the northern and eastern parts of the country.
However, there were consequences. The Air Forces recorded hits from 17 drones in the eastern direction, 1 ballistic missile, as well as debris falling in 3 locations in the southern and northeastern directions.
It is worth noting that on the night of August 5, the Russians attacked the railway infrastructure in the city of Lozova in the Kharkiv region.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reacted to the attack by the Russian Federation on Ukraine on August 5 and spoke about the consequences.
