Nuclear Energy and Defense: Ermak Clarified Who the New US Sanctions Against the Russian Federation Affect.
The US Government Imposes New Sanctions Against Russia
The US government has announced new sanctions against Russia, affecting nearly 100 entities. Among the targets of the sanctions are banks, defense enterprises, and companies from various countries that have facilitated the circumvention of previously established restrictions. This was stated by the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak.
The sanctions list includes key enterprises and individuals supporting the Russian military machine. For example, Keremet Bank from Kyrgyzstan has received restrictions for cooperating with Russian officials to circumvent sanctions.
The sanctions have also extended to the State Unitary Enterprise 'Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant' and its General Director V. Isaev, who was created by the occupiers' structure for the illegal management of ZNPP. Additionally, two subsidiaries of 'Rosatom' are under restrictions: NPO 'Centrotech' and State Unitary Enterprise 'Mining and Chemical Combine'.
The sanctions package also covered over 25 Russian defense enterprises, such as the Sverdlovsk Mechanical Plant, M.V. Frunze NNPO, and the Saransk Instrument Engineering Plant. Sanctions were also imposed on foreign companies from China, Turkey, the UAE, and Malaysia that supplied large batches of goods to sanctioned Russian enterprises.
The list includes about 30 Russian companies that procure goods for the production of ZALA drones, as well as nearly 25 metallurgical enterprises, including the Kamensk-Uralsky Metallurgical Plant and companies from the Keramax group.
Sanctions have also been imposed on the lawyer Viktorov, who helped conceal the assets of the Rotenberg family, and Kozlov, the guard and beneficiary of some companies of Boris Rotenberg.
Consequences for the Russian Oil Sector and LNG Prices
The new US sanctions against the Russian oil sector also include restrictions against 'Gazprom Neft' and 'Surgutneftegaz', as well as 183 tankers. This action significantly impacts Russian oil exports, especially to Asia.
It is worth noting that EU sanctions against Russian LNG have led to a sharp decline in prices in the domestic Russian market - the price has halved to 14 thousand rubles per ton.
At the same Time, American companies remain the largest foreign taxpayers in Russia, having transferred $1.2 billion to the aggressor country's budget in 2023.
