Austria plans to develop investment projects in Ukraine, particularly in Odesa. Additionally, Vienna will allocate an extra 2 million euros in humanitarian aid. This was stated today, August 20, during the visit to Ukraine by Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger.

This is the third visit of the Austrian Foreign Minister to Ukraine and the first visit to Odesa. Meinl-Reisinger noted that Austrian investment projects are already being implemented in Ukraine, and their number is intended to increase, while existing ones will be expanded.

International Initiatives

Moreover, Vienna will join the international coalition for the development of shelters, created with the support of Finland. The goal of the initiative is to enhance the protection of civilians during the full-scale war.

'We will support the construction of shelters. Also, we already have a joint project for lunches for schoolchildren. It is impossible for us to imagine the horrors that Ukrainians are going through. We read the news that gives us goosebumps. Of course, we want to support Ukraine on its path to peace. The issue of territorial integrity is something that should be decided by Ukraine itself, its people, and its president, not by other participants in the process. We also support the legitimate discussion of these issues. For us, Ukraine's security is the security of all of Europe,' stated the Austrian Foreign Minister.

For his part, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha reported that Austria is among the top ten main investors in Ukraine.

'This once again confirms: we can not only receive assistance but also trade with us and invest in us. Among the five documents signed in Vienna, the communiqué on the protection and return of Ukrainian children is particularly important to me. We are also grateful for the organization of rehabilitation holidays for 1480 Ukrainian children, and Austria plans to host about 550 more this year,' said the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.

He also thanked Austria for the allocation of 2 million euros in humanitarian aid to Ukraine, noting that this brings the total amount of Austrian support to 9.6 million euros.

It should be recalled that Austria is ready to negotiate potential refusal of the country's neutrality and possible accession to NATO. This was stated by Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger.
