Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev and Armenian prime minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a historic trilateral peace agreement in Washington under the mediation of US president Donald Trump. According to it, the countries commit to permanently cease all hostilities, open trade, and respect each other's territorial integrity.
This was reported by the Telegram channel of Donald Trump in Ukrainian.

What is known about the agreement and the signing

It has become known that Aliyev and Pashinyan agreed to abandon military confrontation and expressed support for the restoration of diplomatic relations. Together with the US president, they signed a declaration on 'Trump's Route for International Peace and Prosperity'.

According to the document, it is planned to create a transport corridor that will connect the main part of Azerbaijan with Nakhchivan through Armenian territory. In particular, Armenia will establish a special partnership with the USA for the development of this project, and an American company will manage the corridor for 99 years with the right to further extension.

'They fought for 35 years, and now they have become friends — and will remain so for a long time', Trump stated.

Aliyev also announced that in the coming months, Baku and Washington will develop a Charter of Strategic Partnership. Additionally, he proposed to Pashinyan to jointly nominate Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Recall that on the eve of this meeting, Trump announced on social media that on August 8, a historic peace summit would take place at the White House. He had already reported that a peace agreement would be signed.

Recently, we wrote that two members of the Wagner PMC, who had previously fought on the side of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, were detained in Azerbaijan.

During the historic summit, a peace agreement was signed between Azerbaijan and Armenia under the mediation of the US president, calling for the cessation of military actions between these countries, the opening of trade, and respect for territorial integrity. This move may contribute to strengthening stability in the region.
