Azerbaijan Launches High-Speed Rail Link Between Ganja and Gabala.
New Railway Route Connects Key Azerbaijani Cities
According to Novyny.live: On January 12, 2026, Azerbaijan Railways inaugurated a new passenger service linking the cities of Ganja and Gabala. This initiative is designed to enhance logistics to tourist hubs, which will support the development of the nation's tourism infrastructure. The launch is part of a broader national strategy to modernize transport links and boost regional connectivity.
The route covers approximately 139 kilometers, with a one-way journey time of just 1 hour and 50 minutes. Ticket prices start from 4.80 manats, equivalent to about 2.45 euros. The trains operating on this line are manufactured by the Swiss company Stadler, ensuring high standards of quality and passenger comfort.
Stops and Service Classes
The new service will include stops at the following towns:
- Goran
- Yevlakh
- Laki
- Agdash
Notably, a connection will also be available for travel between Baku and Gabala, requiring a transfer at Laki station. Passengers can choose from several service classes, including Standard, Standard+, Business, and First Class, allowing them to select the most suitable option for their journey.
This new rail link represents a significant advancement for Azerbaijan's railway network and is expected to increase tourist traffic to the region.
