Details of the case

According to court documents, the defendant passed the military medical commission, which deemed him fit, and was to report for dispatch to the military unit on October 2, 2024, but he ignored this requirement. A criminal case was opened against him for evading military service during mobilization and the case was sent to court.

Court decision

The accused entered into a plea agreement with the prosecutor. The defendant is unmarried, has two minor children in his care, but is unemployed. He had no prior convictions.

The man was sentenced to three years of imprisonment, but the punishment was commuted to one year of probation. The court's decision can be appealed within 30 days from the date of announcement.

It should be noted that in the Kirovohrad region, a verdict was issued for a man who evaded mobilization after receiving three summonses. He was sentenced to five years of imprisonment.

A soldier from Ivano-Frankivsk was also sentenced to imprisonment. The fighter committed an offense because his mother advised him to do so.

After the resident of the city of Oleksandriya in the Kirovohrad region evaded military conscription, the court decided not to send him to prison but to replace the punishment with one year of probation. It is worth noting that similar judicial decisions regarding evasion from mobilization are not very rare in Ukraine and are often discussed as controversial in the public sphere.
