Zelensky and Merz agreed on joint actions for peace: what the leaders agreed on.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and German Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz held a phone conversation to coordinate actions towards ending the war. The leaders agreed that peace must be dignified and Europe should participate in all processes. In addition, the parties discussed defense support and preparation for an online meeting of national security advisers.

During the conversation, the parties emphasized the role of Europe in future security agreements.
The war needs to be ended with a worthy peace as soon as possible, and Europe must be a participant in all relevant processes.
Particular attention was paid to the meeting of national security advisers from Ukraine, the USA, and EU countries, which will take place today online. It is planned to agree on unified approaches before possible leaders' summits.
Ukraine is not afraid of negotiations and expects the same bold approach from the Russian side, emphasized the head of state, speaking about potential bilateral and trilateral formats of negotiations.
Zelensky and Merz also touched on defense support within the PURL initiative regarding the procurement of American weapons. The Chancellor confirmed that Germany is ready to finance air defense systems and other urgent needs of the Ukrainian army.
During the phone call, the President of Ukraine and the Federal Chancellor of Germany discussed important issues regarding the end of the war in eastern Ukraine, emphasizing the need for a quick and dignified peace, which must involve all of Europe.
