Ukraine Marks Special Operations Forces Day
According to Novyny.live: On May 27, Ukraine celebrates the Day of the Special Operations Forces (SOF). Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, congratulated the troops on this occasion and underscored their achievements in carrying out combat missions. He emphasized that the combat path of SOF soldiers has become a part of military history. This day serves as an annual reminder of the elite units performing high-risk operations critical to Ukraine's defense.
Budanov also expressed his pride in personally knowing many of these soldiers and recalled the joint efforts that are bringing Ukraine closer to victory. Among the key operations involving the Special Operations Forces were:
- battles for the Donetsk Airport;
- the battle for Bakhmut;
- the liberation of Snake Island;
- the liberation of the Kinburn Spit.
Military commander Oleksandr Syrskyi noted the difficulty of frontline rotations, particularly regarding the ongoing Russian attempt to occupy Stepnohirsk, which has lasted over a year. This situation highlights the critical and complex role of the Special Operations Forces in modern conflict.
Celebrating the Day of the Special Operations Forces is an important moment for boosting the morale of both the military and society at large. This day not only honors the SOF's accomplishments but also reminds the public of their contribution to defending the country during a prolonged conflict. Amid the constant threat from Russian forces, the role of the Special Operations Forces will remain crucial, as they carry out missions that are often decisive for the outcomes of combat operations.
