Construction of European gauge Chop-Uzhgorod. 'Ukrzaliznytsia' named final terms.
Ukrzaliznytsia laid 3.5 kilometers of European gauge on the Chop-Uzhgorod section
JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" reported that it has completed part of the work on the construction of the European gauge on the Chop-Uzhgorod section. Work on the wide gauge section is to be completed by the end of 2024. In particular, 3.5 kilometers of wide gauge have already been laid, which is part of the narrow gauge project with a length of 22 kilometers.
According to a representative of "Ukrzaliznytsia", the active phase of construction of the European gauge between Chop and Uzhgorod is underway. As part of the project, the wide gauge is being relaid, aligning it on the Strumkivka-Chop section, where the European gauge will be laid subsequently. In total, it is planned to relay 8.3 kilometers of track.
In addition, under the project, bridges will be repaired and communications updated. The Chairman of the Management Board of "Ukrzaliznytsia" Evgeny Lyashchenko emphasized that by next year, passengers and carriers will feel the positive effect of the launch of the European gauge Chop-Uzhgorod.
