Power Supply at the Bukovel Ski Resort

According to TSN.ua: Despite Ukraine's ongoing energy crisis and widespread emergency blackouts, the Bukovel ski resort has maintained its electricity supply. It has achieved this through a combination of running its own generators and importing power from abroad, ensuring operations continue despite severe strain on the national grid.

Vasyl Kostiuk, Chairman of the Board of Prykarpattiaoblenergo, confirmed that Bukovel possesses its own generator capacity and relies on imported electricity. The resort purchases 15 MW of power, a critical factor for its continued activity. In the Carpathian region where Bukovel is located, eight consumers in total buy electricity from outside Ukraine. For context, the broader Ivano-Frankivsk region consumes between 400 and 440 MW of electricity.

The Wider Energy Situation in Ukraine

According to Ukrenergo, emergency power outages are being observed across most Ukrainian regions. However, as noted by Serhiy Nahorniak,

“the state of Ukraine's energy system may begin to gradually improve from March.”
This potential improvement could open new possibilities for stable electricity supply, not only for Bukovel but for other consumers nationwide.

Bukovel's ability to keep the lights on is vital beyond the resort itself, as it is a major source of income for the local economy. In the face of national energy instability, the resort's reliable power supply directly impacts tourist traffic and regional infrastructure stability. Should Ukraine's energy situation improve as forecast, the prospects for the resort's development could increase significantly.
