France introduces fines of up to 150 euros for swimwear in the city: where and why new rules apply

This summer, a popular seaside resort in France has decided to implement strict measures for tourists who do not comply with certain requirements. In particular, violators will be punished with fines.

The Sun reports on this.

New fines in France

The mayor of the town of Les Sables-d'Olonne on the western coast of France has urged tourists to be more careful when choosing clothing at the resort.

Many vacationers have taken a too relaxed attitude towards their clothing choices, and now they appear in swimsuits and trunks not only on the beaches but also in supermarkets, stores, and other public places.

'So, it is time to clarify: in Les Sables-d'Olonne, it is prohibited to walk without a T-shirt or swimwear. If you are going to the market to buy food — fruits, vegetables, meat — you should not be half-naked,'

said the town's mayor.

The fine for violating these rules is 150 euros.
