The UOC (MP) has created a dangerous network of parishes abroad - expert

According to information received in 2024, the UOC MP has almost 100 parishes abroad. Rector of the Open Orthodox University Georgiy Kovalenko emphasizes the potential danger of such a situation. He spoke about this in the project 'Needle: Bridges of Ukraine', which partners with 'Glavkom'.

According to Kovalenko, based on these parishes, a network is being formed that operates in different countries under the leadership of the UOC MP.

'This activity needs to be analyzed from spiritual and security perspectives: who are these people, what ideologies do they promote, and which structures do they belong to. It's Time to pay attention to this. We have always said that this is a dangerous trend and it could be a network that helps the Moscow Patriarchate survive in the world,' the rector emphasized.

Kovalenko reminded about the beginning of the full-scale invasion when Russian culture ceased to be attractive to foreigners.

'On the civilizational front, a so-called 'friendly' structure was actively being built, which is believed to consist of citizens of Ukraine. We realize how slowly the World Council of Churches reacts to the war,' the expert emphasized.

According to the rector, the Moscow Patriarchate has been involved in many international Christian and inter-religious structures since the Soviet era, establishing influential connections with the Vatican. In all churches, not only Orthodox ones, there are people who empathize with Russia and accept its culture and spirituality.

It is worth noting that the Moscow Patriarchate is actively engaged in church politics abroad, particularly in the USA. It is known that the London law firm Amsterdam & Partners LLP, with money from the OPZZh oligarch Vadim Novinsky, is lobbying for the interests of the UOC MP in the West.
