Increase in the number of Ukrainian refugees in the Czech Republic

According to inkorr.com: More and more Ukrainian refugees are choosing the Czech Republic for temporary residence. According to data from the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic, in recent months, the number of issued temporary protection permits has significantly increased, reaching record levels.

In September, 13,500 permits were issued — the highest figure this year. Currently, the total number of Ukrainian refugees in the Czech Republic approaches 400,000 people, which is the largest figure in the EU per capita.

The spokesperson of the Czech Ministry of Interior, Hana Mala, explained that the increase in issued permits is related to the permission granted by Kyiv for young people aged 18 to 22 to leave.

Ukrainian refugees can feel safe in the Czech Republic, as the temporary protection status is planned to be extended until 2026, even during a change of government. Meanwhile, Germany has decided to stop providing state assistance to Ukrainian refugees.

The increase in the number of refugees in the Czech Republic may indicate that the country has become an important support point for Ukrainians seeking asylum abroad. While other countries, such as Germany, are limiting assistance, the Czech Republic continues to provide support to its new residents, emphasizing its role in the humanitarian crisis caused by the war in Ukraine.
