Zelensky on Putin's Demands: Do the USA Support the Status of the Russian Language and the UOC.
According to ТСН: The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, discussed the support of the United States for Russia's demands regarding the status of the Russian language and the rights of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate.
President's Comment
This information was announced by the head of state during a meeting with media representatives. He noted:
“In our draft framework agreement — these 20 points — everything is written in accordance with international law. International law exists — this is a fact that everyone must acknowledge, and it is the only thing that can unite everyone. We formulated our approach to some points based on the fact that Ukraine will be a member of the European Union in the future. Therefore, the attitude towards such issues will be in accordance with European legislation — with the basic norms that are fundamental for the European Union.”
Putin's Demands
It is worth reminding that the Russian leader, Putin, during a meeting with Trump in Alaska demanded security guarantees for the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine, as well as granting the Russian language official status.
These issues are becoming relevant again against the backdrop of prolonged tension between Ukraine and Russia. It is important that Ukraine's position remains clear: all agreements must comply with international law and European standards. The situation regarding the rights of linguistic minorities and religious communities in Ukraine remains at the center of international discussions.
