Egg Prices Surge Again in Ukraine: A Look at February 2026 Costs.
Ukrainian Supermarkets See Egg Price Hikes
According to Novyny.live: Prices for chicken eggs in Ukrainian supermarkets experienced volatility in February 2026. As of February 3rd, costs in the ATB chain and other retailers showed an upward trend. The average price for a pack of C1 category eggs was between 82.23 and 83.35 UAH. At that time, a single egg at ATB cost 5.79 UAH, an increase from the 5.65 UAH per egg seen in late January. Price fluctuations for staple foods like eggs are a common concern for households managing grocery budgets.
Supermarket Price Comparison
Prices at other major supermarket chains were as follows:
- Varus – 4.99 UAH
- Fora – 5.79 UAH
- Ashan – 5.60 UAH
- MegaMarket – 7.50 UAH
Compared to the previous year, on February 1st, 2025, a single egg cost 3.89 UAH. Therefore, over the year (2025-2026), the price of one egg at ATB rose by 1.90 UAH, representing a 48.84% increase. The average cost of an egg carton was approximately 65 UAH in 2025, a figure that climbed to 76.70 UAH in 2026.
The Consumer Price Index for January 2026 stood at 100.99%. This indicates that the overall price level for consumer goods maintained relative stability, despite the specific surge in egg prices. Given this data, consumers might anticipate further price fluctuations for this product in the near future.
The rise in egg prices could stem from several factors, including shifts in supply and demand, as well as production costs. Amidst the inflationary conditions observed in the market, consumers may need to adjust their spending. This increase in egg prices, alongside the general stability of consumer prices, suggests the market may be undergoing certain structural changes affecting basic food items in Ukraine.
