Key Factors Driving Fuel Consumption

According to TSN.ua: With gasoline and diesel prices climbing in Ukraine, expert Pavlo Romashyn has outlined the main factors affecting fuel usage and offered practical advice for cutting costs. He warns that gasoline may reach 85 hryvnias per liter, while diesel could soar to 95 hryvnias per liter, pushing drivers to find ways to reduce their expenses.

Romashyn points out that many popular fuel-saving hacks simply don't work. For instance, driving with windows open does not save fuel—it actually worsens the car's aerodynamics. He also stresses the importance of changing engine oil every 6,000–7,000 kilometers, a step that can significantly improve fuel efficiency.

Among his other recommendations:

  • Use regular A-95 gasoline unless your car manufacturer requires a different fuel type;
  • Be aware that running the air conditioner can increase fuel consumption by 1.5 to 2 liters per 100 kilometers.

By following these guidelines, drivers can lower their fuel costs even as prices rise.

The surge in fuel prices across Ukraine stems from several factors, including global oil price fluctuations and local economic conditions. Amid inflation and political instability, drivers are actively seeking ways to manage their spending. Romashyn's advice not only helps ease the financial burden on motorists but could also reduce overall fuel consumption nationwide, which would benefit the environment. For many Ukrainians, adopting these fuel-saving measures has become a pressing priority.
