Forecast for Rising Flour Prices in Ukraine

According to Novyny.live: Economist Volodymyr Chyzh predicts that flour prices in Ukraine will increase in 2026. According to his analysis, the cost of flour is expected to rise by approximately 10-15% next year. This projected increase is set against a backdrop of broader consumer price inflation, which is forecast to be around 7% for 2026.

For context, consumer price inflation reached 12% in 2025. To date, the annual price increase for wheat flour has been nearly 40%. This surge has already impacted supermarket shelf prices. As of January 15, 2026, the price for a kilogram of flour across various supermarket chains is as follows:

  • Silpo — 19.19 UAH
  • Novus — 20.39 UAH
  • Varus — 20.40 UAH
  • Auchan — 20.40 UAH
  • Fora — 20.40 UAH
  • ATB — 23.80 UAH
  • MegaMarket — 28 UAH

In 2025, the average price per kilogram of flour was roughly 21-22 UAH. Currently, the average price has climbed to 35.08 UAH. These figures indicate that Ukrainian consumers should prepare for further price increases on this essential food staple in the near future.

Impact of Price Increases on Consumers

Rising flour costs serve as a critical indicator for both consumers and producers, given that flour is a fundamental ingredient in many food items, particularly bread and baked goods. Amidst ongoing inflation and higher production expenses, households are likely to face increased spending on basic necessities.

This trend could affect the overall standard of living and consumer habits, prompting people to seek more economical alternatives or reduce consumption of certain products. — Volodymyr Chyzh
