Potato prices soared by 300%: how much it costs in October.
Ukrainian farmers harvested a small potato crop in 2024 due to weather conditions, which led to a sharp rise in prices for this vegetable. According to the Minfin portal, the average price of potatoes over the month and year has increased significantly.
The current average price for ordinary potatoes is 27.87 UAH per kilogram. This is 5.71 UAH or almost 26% higher than the average price in September 2024.
Compared to October 1, 2023, the price per kilogram of potatoes increased by 19 UAH or 213%. Such a significant increase has substantially impacted buyers.
Additionally, prices for young and pink potatoes have also risen compared to September. Young potatoes increased from 26.20 UAH to 39.90 UAH per kilogram, while pink ones rose from 25.41 UAH to 29.86 UAH.
An analyst explained the reasons for rising potato prices in winter and discussed the situation with other vegetables.
