Vegetable and dairy prices: experts explained how rising fuel excise duties will affect the cost of essential products.

They predict stabilization of dairy prices in Ukraine
Ukraine continues to face rising food prices. But the executive director of the Dairy Enterprises Union, Arsen Didur, predicts that in the first quarter of 2025, there will be stabilization, possibly even a decrease in dairy prices. This is reported by EP.
'I think prices will even move downwards', Didur emphasized.
According to him, the further price dynamics will depend on the exchange rate of the hryvnia and external factors, including the impact of exports on the domestic market.
Arsen Didur also informed that stabilization of raw material prices is expected in the first half of the year, and negotiations with milk producers regarding price reductions have already begun. However, Deputy Chairman of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council Denys Marchuk predicts an increase in vegetable prices of about 15% until the new harvest.
This is explained by seasonality, economic factors, and the consequences of the war.
Denys Marchuk also noted that although export restrictions to Europe temporarily lowered the purchase prices for milk, the final price for consumers is unlikely to change due to rising fuel excise duties.
'The increase in excise duties on fuel and lubricants, which began in September, has not fully affected the market yet... but from January, fuel prices will impact the cost of production and transportation expenses', Marchuk explained.
The expert believes that all categories of products will increase in price by the new season.
Earlier, the government had already provided forecasts regarding food prices in the coming months.
