According to ТСН: After theEuropean Union approved financial aid to Ukraine for 2026 and 2027, Russia may lose interest in continuing negotiations.

Such an opinion was expressed by journalist Vitaliy Portnikov on the air of 'Espreso'. He noted that from the Russian side, activity in the negotiations they might have initiated is likely to decrease, aiming to avoid new sanctions and create the illusion that Ukraine will not receive financial support. Portnikov recalled that former US President Donald Trump tried to prevent sanctions on Russian companies and promised Europeans not to touch Russian money, as it could harm his peace plan. However, Giorgia Meloni helped draw the EU's attention to the concerns of Belgium, Hungary, and Slovakia, which forced Europeans to seek alternative solutions.

Portnikov emphasized that the EU's approval of aid to Ukraine is a bad signal for Russia, as it indicates that Ukraine will continue its struggle in 2026-2027, which will force Russia to further deplete its economy.

'They understood that the issue of assets could be resolved by a qualified majority in the EU. However, the issue of the 90 billion euros that Ukraine will receive is a unanimous matter.'

The situation is complicated by the fact that it would have only taken one opposing vote for everything to fall apart, but at the last moment, Orban decided to betray Russia. This raises questions about the viability of Russian negotiations, as it is now known that Ukraine is ready to fight in the coming years.

'This is a very bad signal for them as it indicates that they will literally exhaust their economy.'

Additionally, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the United States is not putting enough pressure on Russian President Putin to make him abandon his aggressive plans.

Thus, the EU's support for Ukraine signifies not only financial backing but also political unity from Western partners. This could significantly strengthen Ukraine's position in its struggle against aggression, prompting Russia to reconsider its strategies in negotiations and internal affairs. The situation remains tense, and the further steps of the international community will play a crucial role in the unfolding events.
