Ukraine and Denmark assessed the results of cooperation under the 'Danish model' of support for the Ukrainian defense industry

Under the 'Danish model' of support for the Ukrainian defense industry, in 2024, the Armed Forces of Ukraine received weapons worth almost 538 million euros. The funds were allocated under agreements signed with the Ministry of Defense of Denmark, and the funding sources included the Danish state (through the 'Ukraine Fund'), Sweden, Iceland, and interest from frozen Russian assets.

These funds were used for purchasing weapons from Ukrainian manufacturers. Denmark and Ukraine implemented a new funding mechanism, within which Ukrainian defense enterprises receive support from the Danish government. Danish specialists review projects and Ukrainian companies that need financial assistance.

'We are grateful to Denmark for its leadership position, unwavering support, and effective implementation of the 'Danish model' of cooperation with the Ukrainian defense industry. The purchased equipment is already proving its effectiveness on the battlefield, strengthening our ability to confront the enemy and bringing us closer to victory. We hope that Denmark's example will inspire other countries to similar initiatives, as this will help make a collective contribution to the future security of Europe and the world,' said the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov.

'I am very proud of the cooperation between Denmark and Ukraine within the framework of the 'Danish model'. I am also impressed by the speed that the Ukrainian defense industry can provide. Important support is already on the front lines or on the way, and I hope that more countries will consider the possibility of supporting Ukraine through its defense industry. Denmark will continue to lead,' said the Minister of Defense of Denmark Troels Lund Poulsen.

The first deliveries under the 'Danish model' included self-propelled artillery units 'Bohdana', as well as long-range drones, anti-tank, and anti-ship missiles. For 2025, 135 million euros are planned for further purchases, and 43 million euros have also been received from Norway.
