Pensioners and Mobilization: Who Can Avoid Conscription by Law.
Due to the general mobilization, citizens aged 18 to 60 are required to serve in the military. Retirement does not automatically grant the right to avoid military service, but some pensioners may be exempted from conscription.
According to the law, certain categories of pensioners have the right to be exempt from service. This applies to citizens who are 60 years old, persons with disabilities, and those unfit for service due to health reasons. Exemption from conscription is also possible for those who are permanently caring for non-working relatives or people with disabilities.
Military pensioners are kept on record, but they can only be conscripted according to their military accounting specialty, for positions that match their rank.
How a Pensioner Can Avoid Mobilization
To obtain an exemption from conscription, one must contact the enlistment office with the relevant documents.
What Documents Are Necessary for Exemption from Mobilization:
- pension certificate;
- medical certificates about health status;
- documents regarding the care of a person with a disability;
- other documents confirming the grounds for exemption.
The decision on exemption from service is made by the staff of the TC and SP after reviewing the documents. If the pensioner is denied, they may still be conscripted into the army.
It is also worth noting that the number of women in the army has increased. This year, there are 30 thousand more than last year.
It is also clarified that military personnel who have reached the age of 45 have the right to retirement for length of service, even if they have not been in service in recent years.
During the general mobilization, citizens are required to comply with the law, but pensioners have the right to exemption from this service for various reasons. Other categories of citizens can also take advantage of this opportunity by presenting the relevant documents.Read also
