According to Novyny.live: Law enforcement officials in the Chernivtsi region have exposed a corruption scheme in the procurement of official housing for emergency service personnel, resulting in a state loss of nearly 20 million hryvnias. The case involves the purchase of apartments that failed to meet established requirements and violated the terms of the tender documentation. This incident highlights ongoing challenges in ensuring transparency in Ukraine's public procurement sector, especially for critical services.

Investigation and Consequences

A former deputy head of the State Emergency Service's (SES) Main Directorate in Chernivtsi Oblast has been notified of suspicion. This official oversaw the housing procurement process during 2023–2024. As a result of his actions, seven apartments intended for SES employees were purchased. The investigation found the purchased apartments did not comply with construction standards, which formed the basis for uncovering the abuses. Law enforcement continues to work on the case to clarify all circumstances and hold those responsible to account.

This situation underscores the critical importance of adhering to tender procedures and controlling the use of state funds.
