Civilian Area Targeted in Dnipro Attack

According to Novyny.live: A nighttime assault on the city of Dnipro, which took place on June 2, has left 12 people dead, including two children. More than 40 individuals sustained injuries ranging from mild to severe. The strike specifically hit non-military targets, most notably a 16-story residential building. Among the wounded are four minors, with one child currently in critical condition.

The broader Dnipro region suffered extensive damage, with five districts affected. During the night of June 2, over 700 missiles and drones were launched against various parts of Ukraine. In Dnipro, the attack caused severe destruction across multiple residential neighborhoods.

Compensation Program for Victims

Local authorities have quickly rolled out a financial aid program for those affected. Compensation for a one-bedroom apartment starts at 9,000 hryvnias, while owners of three-bedroom units may receive up to 15,000 hryvnias.

“This program is fully tailored to each specific situation,” stated Yuriy Yandulsky.

Yandulsky further emphasized that

“the strike was carried out solely against civilian objects,”
adding that 'there is not a single military facility that even resembles a military target.' The attack has sparked widespread concern among residents, who are anxious about their safety and the fallout from such terrorist acts.

Officials continue to work on delivering support to victims and managing the aftermath of the assault.

This act of terrorism is part of a larger, ongoing campaign of aggression in Ukraine that deliberately targets civilians. The swift reaction from city authorities and the establishment of a compensation scheme highlight the urgent need to address crises triggered by such strikes. Providing aid to the injured and displaced, along with rebuilding damaged infrastructure, remains the top priority for local government as they work to mitigate the tragedy's impact on the community.
