The situation at the front in the Kharkiv region remains tense, claims the Institute for the Study of War (ISW). According to the report, Russian troops continue to attack, approaching the Oskil River, which is only three kilometers away. Analysts emphasize that the enemy army is actively taking positions near the river, with the aim of further attacks on Ukrainian forces. The commander of the Ukrainian battalion on the Svatove direction reported that Russian troops have already captured Pishchane and practically reached the Oskil River, being at a distance of two kilometers from it.

According to information from the General Staff, shelling took place in the Kharkiv region on September 28, resulting in the deaths of three people, and numerous civilians were injured. The Russian army shelled Slatyne, indicating their attempt to damage civilian infrastructure, including schools and shops.

According to ISW estimates, the breakthrough to the Oskil River is of great importance for Russian troops. The river serves as a natural barrier, as well as a favorable position for controlling the surrounding territories. Having access to the river will allow the Russian army to secure stable supply and shelling sources, complicating the actions of Ukrainian troops in this region.

Results of the latest combat operations

On the last day of enemy attacks, militants launched two missile strikes, using a total of 84 missiles, and conducted 50 air strikes. In addition, an impressive attempt involved the deployment of 700 kamikaze drones, and more than 3400 shellings of our troops' positions and settlements were registered.

It should be noted that a NATO admiral pointed out that Ukraine and Russia are facing similar problems in the war – a lack of military personnel, insufficient training of mobilized soldiers, and the need to find new sources of ammunition and weapons.

The commander of the second assault battalion of the 3rd separate assault brigade, Dmytro Kukharchuk, provided more details on the situation at the front. He noted that Russian troop losses in battles at the front are 12 to 1 in favor of Ukrainian forces.
