Admitted or omitted: in Belarus explained what "elections" Lukashenko is preparing.
Propaganda and formality: elections in Belarus without independent candidates
The presidential elections in Belarus in 2020 were accompanied by protests, but in the upcoming campaign, there will be no independent candidates. This process will become a formal procedure where "admitted" candidates will only support dictator Alexander Lukashenko.
This was stated by the head of the movement "For Freedom" Yuri Gubarevich. He emphasized that during the last campaign, there was an allowance for the appearance of opposition candidates who actually had the support of society. However, this did not bring the expected results as falsifications and ballot replacements were utilized. Even some district election commissions and protocols had to show real results where Lukashenko lost due to the strong protest wave.
According to Gubarevich, after the 2020 elections, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya became a symbol of public support and took the position of a leader. However, now Lukashenko is afraid of even the possibility of refusal of actions by individual commissions. He does not want any competition and alternative views on state television channels and in the press, which opposition candidates could use.
Gubarevich is confident that most presidential candidates will support the dictator and will not speak about their candidacy, programs, or alternative paths for the development of Belarus. Their mission will be only to praise the current leader.
