Shutdown of sugar factories in Vinnytsia

According to inkorr.com: In Vinnytsia, two out of five sugar factories have temporarily stopped their operations due to a shortage of raw materials. The cause of this is unfavorable weather conditions that prevented timely harvesting of sugar beets. Farmers had to wait for the weather to improve to resume production.

Deliveries of sugar raw materials to the factories have resumed, but some of them are still waiting for compensation for the necessary supplies to normalize operations. In total, since the beginning of the season, enough raw materials have arrived at the factories to produce 94 thousand tons of sugar.

During the first half of October, an excessive amount of precipitation fell in Vinnytsia. This resulted in farmers being unable to harvest sugar beets on time and, consequently, the sugar factories are at a standstill.

Problems for sugar producers

Currently, only three sugar factories in Vinnytsia continue to operate. Against the backdrop of falling sugar prices in Europe to a three-year low, many factories are closing, leading to decreased profits. Sugar producers from Europe blame Ukraine and EU policy for this situation.

Bad weather in Vinnytsia region has delayed the harvesting of sugar beets, leading to a lack of raw materials for sugar factories. Although the harvest has already resumed, some enterprises are still waiting for supplies to restore production. The situation is complicated by the falling sugar prices in Europe, which may cause additional difficulties in the industry.

This news highlights the difficult situation faced by sugar factories in Vinnytsia due to weather conditions and economic factors. The halt of operations at some factories indicates a threat to production, while the drop in sugar prices in Europe poses serious challenges not only for Ukrainian farmers but for the entire sector. The situation requires attention and possibly technical or political solutions for stabilization.
