KLM and Air France are canceling free baggage: what items are allowed on board.
Two European airlines KLM and Air France plan to cancel free baggage transport. They will only allow small personal items on board.
It is reported that the maximum dimensions for carry-on luggage will be 40x30x15 cm. Passengers will have to pay for any bag that exceeds these dimensions.
The new basic fare will initially be implemented on 10 medium-haul routes starting from September 9, 2025:
- Helsinki (Finland);
- Athens (Greece);
- Vienna (Austria);
- Dublin (Ireland);
- Stockholm (Sweden);
- Turin (Italy);
- Florence (Italy);
- Prague (Czech Republic).
It is noted that fares for long-haul flights will remain unchanged. If passengers want to add carry-on luggage, they can pay for it up to four hours before departure. The cost will be from 15 euros for each flight.

European airlines KLM and Air France are introducing a new baggage transport rule, limiting passengers to only small carry-ons. The new fare system applies only to certain medium-haul routes and allows passengers to optionally add carry-on luggage to their ticket for an additional fee.
