Former Pentagon Chief Proposed a Surprising Solution for Ukraine's Air Defense.
Ukraine May Receive an Air Defense System Similar to the 'Iron Dome'
Leon Panetta, former U.S. Secretary of Defense and ex-director of the CIA, supports the idea of providing Ukraine with an air defense system similar to the 'Iron Dome' in Israel. He believes that the United States must demonstrate to Russia its readiness to use military force, as Russian President Vladimir Putin only understands the language of strength. Panetta emphasizes the need to provide Ukraine with advanced weapons and the capability to strike targets on Russian territory to destroy enemy drones and missiles before they are launched at Ukrainian territory. He notes that the Israeli air defense system is effective, having recently intercepted over 90% of missiles fired from Iran and other countries. Panetta believes that enhancing military support for Ukraine is strategically important to prevent the success of Russian aggression. 'Providing a powerful air defense system will allow Ukrainian forces to regain the strategic initiative in the war and demonstrate to the Kremlin the impossibility of achieving its military objectives,' Panetta stated. Earlier, Joe Biden ordered the Pentagon to increase arms supplies to Ukraine.
