Expert Reveals Production Dates for Russian Missiles: What It Signals About Moscow’s Stockpiles.
Russian Missile and Drone Production and Stockpile Overview
According to Espreso.tv: According to Serhiy Beskrestnov, a Ukrainian military electronics specialist and advisor to the Minister of Defense, new data sheds light on Russia’s manufacturing capabilities and existing reserves of missiles and drones. He notes that the 9M723 Iskander ballistic missiles already bear a 2025 production date, with current stockpiles estimated at a minimum of 180 to 250 units. Furthermore, Zircon hypersonic missiles are slated for 2026, while Kh-101 and Kh-59 missiles are dated for 2026 and the third quarter of 2025, respectively. The 400-series missile (RM48U) is also planned for 2026.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has previously stated that Russia can produce around 120 ballistic missiles each month. However, Beskrestnov argues that despite this output, Moscow’s manufacturing of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and missiles does not allow for the accumulation of large reserves. He emphasized:
“Overall, it can be said that the production of UAVs and missiles in the Russian Federation does not allow for the formation of large stockpiles, and almost everything goes straight to the front.” - Serhiy Beskrestnov
How Production Capacity Shapes Military Strategy
The expert further pointed out that 'the production date can indirectly indicate the enemy's weapon stockpiles.'
This information highlights the critical importance of Russia’s military production capacity and reserves in the context of ongoing conflicts. Understanding these manufacturing capabilities and stockpile levels is essential for Ukraine and its allies as they assess threats and plan military responses. Specifically, insights into Russia’s production timelines and inventory can directly influence strategic decisions made by both sides on the battlefield.
