Emergency Power Cuts Continue in Several Ukrainian Regions on February 2
According to Novyny.live: The situation within Ukraine's energy system remains difficult on February 2, with emergency power outages persisting in several regions due to Russian attacks on energy infrastructure. These ongoing attacks have severely damaged the national grid, leading to critical supply issues. Consumers in the following oblasts are affected by emergency outages:
- Kharkiv Oblast
- Sumy Oblast
- Dnipropetrovsk Oblast
- Cherkasy Oblast
Furthermore, over 160 settlements remain without electricity in these areas:
- Odesa Oblast
- Mykolaiv Oblast
- Kirovohrad Oblast
These widespread outages highlight the severe problems caused by the recent assaults. In a related incident on February 1, Russian forces targeted energy workers in the Dnipropetrovsk region, resulting in the deaths of 12 mine workers and injuries to 16 others.
Ukraine's Deputy Energy Minister, Artem Nekrasov, stated that once the power system's operation stabilizes, Kyiv will immediately return to stable hourly power outage schedules.
While the supply situation is under control, it requires time for restoration. Ukraine's energy system remains in a critical state due to military actions impacting its infrastructure. The attacks on energy facilities not only cause temporary blackouts but also lead to casualties among workers, underscoring the dangers faced by utility personnel. Restoring full power depends on achieving stability and the ongoing efforts to repair and protect the vulnerable infrastructure.
