Yermak in Corriere Della Sera: Challenge from North Korea, peace talks plan, Trump factor, and election prospects.
In the coming days, North Korean military forces will be deployed in the Kursk direction and will begin fighting against Ukrainian forces. This was stated by the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, in an interview with the Italian publication Corriere Della Sera.
"According to our information, North Korean soldiers will be deployed in the Kursk front in these days and will begin fighting against our troops. This step demonstrates that, de facto, North Korea is participating in this war," Yermak said.
According to him, this proves that now Ukraine is not only fighting against the Russian aggressor but also against its North Korean allies and Iran, which provides Shahed drones. "It is necessary for our Western allies to seriously consider this new reality and for NATO to make concrete decisions. We, Ukrainians, have long been saying that we need more weapons and that the restrictions on strikes on Russian territory need to be lifted," emphasized the head of the Presidential Office.
Peace talks and internal situation
Speaking about the possibility of peace talks, Yermak outlined Ukraine's next steps: "At the beginning of November, we will finalize our formula for peace, and Zelensky said that he would then be ready to hear other initiatives, such as those from China, Brazil, South Africa, and so on, to integrate them into ours." At the same Time, he emphasized that Ukraine would not agree to territorial compromises: "Zelensky has never talked about territorial compromise. For us, Crimea and Donbas remain Ukrainian, they are not subject to negotiations. We are against freezing the war, we want to finish it."
Regarding the possible victory of Donald Trump in the US elections, Yermak assured that Ukraine is not afraid of such a development: "How can we be afraid after almost three years of war? Obviously, US policy is very important to us, they are our main ally. And we know well that American society is with us."
He also spoke about the recent meeting between President Zelensky and Trump: "The meeting went very well. I was present, I do not provide details as it was a closed meeting, but I can say that we returned from the US confident that none of the candidates are ready to allow Putin to win this war and that military support will continue."
Continuation of the struggle
Speaking about the internal situation, the head of the Presidential Office noted that elections will be held immediately after the end of the war: "Zelensky is very clear on this issue - he wants all soldiers to have the opportunity to vote, as well as refugees abroad. But today, resources must go to war."
According to Yermak, despite the difficult situation, Ukraine will continue to fight: "This is our country, our land. We continue; one day we lose, another day we move forward."
